Transitioning to Fall... new season, new colors, new clothes!
Its starting to be that time again..with summer fading away, we now get to have fun with all the new season's apparel.
The trick for this summer to fall transition period is... layering!
Layering allows you to be able to use those favorite summer pieces by just throwing on a layering piece to work it into the upcoming fall months.
Suggestive pieces to use for layering:
Trendy Blazers
Cardigans
(belted or unbelted, long or short)
Scarfs
( printed ones can really bring to life monochromatic outfits)
Tights
(Opaque tights or leggings)
All of these can be used with many different outfits to help keep you fashionable but yet not having to give up that fav summer outfit just yet and also allowing you to hold off on making that splurge into your fall budget!

N.O.L.A. Love
After recently spending the weekend in the Fabulous city of New Orleans, Louisiana, I feel enticed to lend a hand in anyway to help defend our N.O.L.A. Coast.
What better way than through Fashion! (I feel obligated to insert the exclamation... "Duh!")

Favorite Sale of the Year!!!
If you have never experienced it yet... you must atleast peruse it online... the Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale. They receive their Fall shipment earlier than most stores, to allow them to mark down the majority of the items as a sneak peek of what will be the trends and items for the upcoming Fall season. Great time to get your fabulous Fall wardrobe at a great price. But it only lasts until August 2nd and things become picked over quickly so be sure to check it out soon!
Thought I'd suggest some of my favorite pieces....
All of these images are straight from Nordstroms.com and should link directly to their website for easy SHOPPING!! =)

The Buzz about Local Biz!
As a recently new ( well maybe I can no longer say new when its been a year now), resident in Lake Charles, and having a career in shopping I've had to try to figure out the best places to hit up for great apparel within our deserted shopping scene.
Luckily, we, Lake Charles-ians, have some great entrepreneurs that decided to venture out and try to improve out shopping options.
I wanted to give a shout out to some that have truly helped out when I needed to find that 'Perfect' outfit.... { and listing these in no specific order... they are all great for the merch that they offer}
Social Denim, located @ 706 Ryan St., is where you can find the trendiest of the trends and that Perfect Pair of Denim (go figure...)
Frankie & Co. recently moved to share the space with My Favorite Things on Ryan St. If you are in search for a fabulous summer dress that is fun and unique, Frankie's has it. With a small selection so you know that you wont see yourself coming and going.
TeCi's located on Ernest St. across from the mall. Right now they are having a great sale on some great pieces that would work well into the coming Fall. Teci's offers the Comfortable Casual yet, sophisticated look for the more mature market of ladies. Eileen Fisher is a perfect example of a great brand you can find here.
Mimosa Boutique Also located on Ernest St. and we are all SO excited that this boutique was able to reopen and keep supplying us with the cutest apparel at great price points. Accessories that are great to grab for a fun night out with friends or find that needed a cocktail dress for an engagement party or hot date.
Perfect Fit 312 Pujo St. By appt only, the personal attention and fabulous apparel is all worth the experience to go and see what Barbara has to offer during each of her trunk shows. A very unique boutique for Lake Charles with no standing merchandise, only working through designer's trunk shows, to give the clients clothing that no one else will have in the area.
I know that there are more boutiques than I've listed...Just trying to get out the names of the venues that have recently been a great help and we are glad that they are in business in Lake Charles!
KEEP ON SHOPPING LADIES!

Fashionably Accessorizing Accessories...
I know this isn't exact in line with tips on your wardrobe but every detail counts in looking put together... and I recently had an unfortunate accident with my current iphone cover, so I thought I would bring my search to you...
Its funny how, for those of us that pay attention to detail, the little things can say so much about a person.
Phone covers can tell others your type of personality... you see a phone on the table with a bright pink case with swirls all over it probably means that girl is out going and loves to make a statement with her clothes, ( or a very effeminate male... but thats a different blog).
Some designers are getting into the whole market of the phone covers, which I'm loving. Not that you need to be flaunting designer names but their designs are unique and fun compared to the typical look of kiosk phone cases. ( And I'm not talking about the mass produced Burberry and LV knock off cases.)
So my search is continuing for the 'right' case to cover my phone... if you know of any websites to find some cute ones let me know!

Online Shopping Secrets!
Well, some of you may visit these websites everyday but to others it may open up a whole new world of shopping...
Personally, I peruse alot of online shopping sites and, sadly, get way too excited when I find out about new websites that might have unique finds.
So, I've decided to share my listings of some of my 'Fav' websites that offer discounts on designer items or just discounts, in general, on purchases...
( if you know of any other ones please let me know. Come on... don't horde your findings..)
Favorite designer discount sites: Just sign up for a free account and receive emails of their current designer sales.
Favorite Discount website for online or instore shopping: discount codes for most of your frequently shopped websites can be found on -->
Favorite Shoe shopping websites:
Need a Dress for a Special Occasion but know you will only want to make that fashion statement one time? -- then spend the money on renting a fabulous dress instead...
And, finally, probably one of my favorite emails I receive that I can't wait to open up...
You fill out a list of designers that you love and your sizes, then start receiving a weekly list of websites they have searched that have your designers and sizes on sale at that moment.
Can we say FABULOUS?!
Hope you enjoy your time surfing the web and finding GREAT clothes!

Graduation Season!
Somewhere a friend or family member is moving into that next stage of life, a big day for them, as well as a great opportunity for you to dress up and look your best! =)
While dress shopping you'll find alot of floral prints this season. Be sure that the size of the print is proportionate to your body size. If you're petite, large prints can become overwhelming where as with a plus size body type tiny prints can make your body seem even larger.
Having the length of the dress hit at the smallest part of the calf right below the knee is the best placement to flatter your calves (if you would rather not go above the knee).
Right now a great Dress line at great prices is Taylor. You can find it at Nordstroms, Dillards or Macys... and sometimes if you're lucky Marshalls. ( I know we do not have half of the mentioned stores in Lake Charles, but Shipping is free from Nordstroms.com on order over $200 and Macys.com on orders over $99)
The designer has updated the traditional sheath style dress with fun updated details and colors. Great styles for Graduations!

You don't have to be wearing Skinny Jeans to be "IN"
Even though Skinny Jeans are ALL over the Trend magazines and the mannequins in the store windows... Doesn't mean that everyone should or needs to be wearing them.
(Don't get me wrong I love me some Jeggings but not everyone feels the same as me.) And as a Wardrobe Consultant, I will tell you that not everyone can wear skinny jeans. They only accentuate the hips and gluteus maximus.
A couple of ways to look "IN" with fashion but still feel comfortable in your clothes...
Pull on some trouser style jeans ( fitted in the rear with a little bit of a wider fitting leg with a wide hemmed bottom), couple it with a flirty ruffled top that you will be able to find anywhere right now. If you want to add a great finishing touch, add a bold necklace, preferrably in a neutral shade to not seem too over bearing with the ruffles.
Feeling fun... Grab your white denim skirt or white jeans and be prepared to look fab! Throw on a bright colored top with a pair of cute feminine detailed sandals. Let's put away those plain brown flip flops and "matchy, matchy" sandals, try blending the colors to the rest of the outfit.
Remember that you don't have to wear every trend that is out there find the one that fits your style and shape then rock it out!

The search is on for swimwear
Long Torso is boring
Recently spent time with my very tall client who is looking for a long torso, one-piece swimsuit that doesn't scream GRANDMA!
She has scoured the web, every store in Lake Charles (didn't take long!) and has come to me with this very important personal shopping mission. Find her a great looking, one-piece swimsuit, that will fit and flatter her.
